Updating Fildes Family...

So, the blog thing took a back-burner for a while so that school, work, and life happened...

Our old dog, Disciple, unfortunatly, got ran-over by a truck in Januray 2008, so we had to put him down...we decided we couldn't last very long without a dog in our lives, so we got Israel from a cattle-dog rescue place in Denver, CO.

WE ARE GOING TO HAVE A BABY - in case you didn't know...

With a baby on the way, we decided to become House - Owners - although, not what you would typically think of, we are house owners in Maryville, TN. We will be leaving our home-away-from-home of beloved Durango, CO to move to TN the beginning of August. Our baby is due June 24th, we are going to be suprised as to the addition of a boy or girl Fildes into our family:)

Here a few pictures of our adventures - mostly traveling to places like Jamaice (mission trip in March with Matthew's House Church), Hawaii (Jan - fun get away), TX (hang out with friends), and of course - TN (our house and friends)...

Hey there, JumpHiJess!!! This is Andrea-Johnson-turned-Andrea-Harman. I am married with a little one or two running around (I'm pretty sure it's at two...) I saw your blog comment on Mandy and Eli Stewart's blog so I followed the link. It is great to see what you have been up to! Wow, you married John Fildes! And you're pregnant! And you have a dog and a house!! That is all wonderful! Isn't it amazing how we all go and grow up...
I hope you don't mind if I read your blog from time to time. It is absolutely fabulous to find your blog. And can I just say that you look exceptionally cute as a pregnant lady. I remember some of our fun times together, especially that summer you lived in the Butterfield apartments (I think it was the summer with all the fires?). Anyway, you were neat, sweet and fun and I assume not much has changed. It is great to find you here in the blogsphere. Take care, and I'll be reading.

Andrea

ps--great choice of super-holy dog names, by the way.

Andrea, it's so good to hear from you! John and I feel pretty blessed by the Lord to see where our lives have taken us and the new direction he is leading...I guess we are going to become "southerners" - but we claim we will always be "coloradoans" at heart.

It's awesome that you have 2 little ones - they look pretty cute from your blog:) If you have any steller parenting advice, I will glady accept anything...

Hi Jess

Well, my advice would be to get your baby on a feeding schedule. I'm not talking about letting a hungry baby cry--no, no, I just mean trying to establish a routine. A great book on this is "Baby Wise". It is short and practical, and the author is a Christian. Some people don't like doing this (the schedule) but I swear by it. If you don't do it, I think your child will... PROBABLY... turn out ok ;). But it is really, really, really nice to have a little routine going that you can rely on. Plus your baby will sleep through the night WAY sooner, and can I get an amen to that?

My 2nd piece of 'stellar' advice would be to leave your baby with someone as soon as possible, even just for an hour or something, and then to do this regularly. That way Fildes Jr. will be comfortable being away from you guys and you can go to church, go on a date, go to the store, go to a Bible study, etc... by yourself/selves and be okay. You know those screaming 3-year olds that completely freak out when they are away from their moms? I rest my case.

I just have to say, Jess, you are such a cute, pretty pregnant woman. And I love your long, long hair. When I was pregnant I looked like a Geo Metro... 30% of my mass up front, and 70% of my mass in the rear... I kept hoping for a 60-lb. baby to blame it all on, but... well... Oh well... but you look fabulous. :)

See you later online ;)
